Lizzy Ngotta - Trustee
Lizzy Ngotta has had a long and happy career as a teacher in mainstream and special schools in North East London, and also latterly she ran a specialist team which supported schools to include and meet the needs of neurodiverse students as well as children and young people with a range of other needs. She retired from teaching in 2019 and currently works part time for a Parent Carer Forum.
Lizzy is honoured to be a trustee for CFK, which provides much needed specialist support for staff in schools working with children with social, emotional and mental health needs, as well as direct support for the children themselves.
Ros Kane - Trustee
Ros has been a social worker in Wormwood Scrubs prison, done some school teaching, been involved in various health and welfare voluntary groups, and is a psychotherapist in the Free Psychotherapy Network and the Guild of Psychotherapists.
She founded Carefree Kids, having realised how little help exists for the emotional difficulties of children.
When the charity was closed by trustees, she proposed starting again, and Carefree Kids 2020 was born. Her experience over many years, as well as parent- and grandparenthood, has led to her two-volume book, Nothing More Important, about preparing children and young people at school to become good parents.
Beatrix Roudet - Trustee
Beatrix Roudet has spent her whole career in education, first in secondary schools, then in a sixth form college in East London. Her work as a teacher was pastoral and involved looking after children's well-being as well as teaching a particular discipline. Later, in her role as senior manager.
A part of her responsibilities was to resolve arising student's issues, with them, their teachers, tutors and families. When she discovered CarefreeKids soon after retiring, she was enthused by their vision, compassion and organisation. After several months of structured training and participation in supervision, she worked directly with children as play-therapy worker. She was impressed by the way in which, given time, space and attention, children would use their play to address issues and gained confidence.
She feels honoured now to be one of CarefreeKids 2020 trustees.
